Becoming Catholic

Interested in learning more about the Catholic faith? A great place to begin is by joining our OCIA, Order of Christian Initiation of Adults, classes. Here you’ll learn more about the Catholic faith in a welcoming atmosphere. Ask questions, learn from those who have walked the same path, and find a community of believers looking to deepen their relationship with Christ. There’s no commitment to become Catholic. Inquiring minds and open hearts are always welcome.

Our OCIA classes include those who have never been baptized, those baptized in a different Christian tradition who wish to become Catholic, and those who were baptized Catholic but have not received the sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation.

Here’s an idea of the outline of our OCIA program:

  • Inquiry – During this introductory period, you’ll inquire and learn about the Catholic Church, its practices and its traditions. This period helps us understand how Christ is present to us in the Catholic Church and how the Church brings us into the fullness of truth, deepening our relationship with Christ.
  • Growth – During this period, we delve into the rich teachings of Jesus through His Church and learn about the sacraments he left for us as a means of grace.
  • Preparation, Purification & Enlightenment – During this period, we focus on personal spiritual growth and preparing ourselves to receive the sacraments of initiation (baptism if necessary, confirmation, and first communion) at the Easter Vigil which is celebrated the Saturday evening before Easter Sunday.
